The News

The Saudi Interior Ministry reported that initial investigations into the emergency landing of FlyDubai flight FZ1073 at Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz International Airport in Tabuk revealed that the co-pilot attacked the pilot during the flight, resulting in injuries to both. The ministry stated that the initial investigation was conducted by Saudi authorities in collaboration with an Emirates security team.

The aircraft, en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv, was allowed to make an emergency landing at 9:45 AM Saudi time (06:45 GMT). The plane landed safely without injuries to passengers or crew, and necessary assistance was provided by Saudi authorities. At 5:40 PM, passengers resumed their journey on a replacement FlyDubai flight, while the rest of the crew returned to Dubai on another company flight.

FlyDubai previously stated in a press release that a "scuffle occurred in the cockpit," and the crew secured the aircraft and landed safely in Saudi Arabia. The ministry noted that the pilot and co-pilot were transported to the hospital for treatment based on medical evaluations of their conditions. Upon improvement in their conditions and medical team approval, they left Saudi Arabia accompanied by an Emirates security team on Thursday morning.

The Saudi National Transport Authority confirmed that it has initiated a team to investigate the incident to determine the circumstances of the event, examine aviation safety aspects, and gather information and evidence.
